Super Falcons to face Portugal ahead of WAFCON 2025

Category: Sports |

Nigeria’s Super Falcons, in preparation for their quest to clinch a record-extending 10th title at the 13th edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to hold in Morocco next month, are set to face the senior women’s national team of Portugal in a high-profile friendly encounter on Monday in Lisbon. The match is part of their final warm-up activities, with several key players—such as Rasheedat Ajibade, Michelle Alozie, and Toni Payne—joining from overseas to strengthen the squad. Following the clash in Portugal, the team will continue fine-tuning their strategies with another test game against Ghana’s Black Queens on June 29 in Morocco, just days before their WAFCON campaign kicks off in Group B, where they are drawn alongside Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana.
