Nigeria TV Info â Senate Committee Approves N140bn 2025 Budget for NCDC, Urges Transparency in Spending
Abuja, Nigeria â The Senate Committee on the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) has approved the commissionâs 2025 budget proposal of N140 billion, with a strong call for transparency and judicious use of the funds when it is eventually passed by the Senate.
The approval was announced on Tuesday by the Committee Chairman, Senator Titus Zam, after the commissionâs Managing Director, Mr. Tsenyil Yiltsen, defended the budget before lawmakers.
According to Senator Zam, the committee gave its consent after âa careful review of the provisions in the budget and the eloquent presentation by the MD and his team.â
Presenting details of the proposal, Mr. Yiltsen revealed that the federal government allocated N140 billion to the NCDC for the 2025 fiscal year.
Out of the total sum, N100 billion was earmarked for capital expenditure across the six states in the North Central region and the Federal Capital Territory, while N40 billion will go towards recurrent costs, including overheads and personnel expenses.
Yiltsen further explained that the capital allocation would not be limited to a single project but spread across several sectors, with planned interventions in security, agriculture, mining, environmental degradation, education, health, and road construction, among others.
