EFCC Recovered N500bn, Secured 7,000 Convictions Under My Watch — Tinubu
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has disclosed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has recovered over ₦500 billion and secured more than 7,000 convictions since he assumed office in May 2023. Tinubu made the revelation while delivering his remarks at the 2025 National Anti-Corruption Summit in Abuja on Monday.
He stated that his administration remains committed to fighting corruption across all sectors, emphasizing that the EFCC and other anti-graft agencies have been given full autonomy to operate without interference. The President also highlighted ongoing reforms to strengthen institutional transparency, digitalize public service operations, and ensure fiscal accountability in governance.
Tinubu commended the EFCC leadership for intensifying the war against financial crimes, noting that the commission’s achievements in asset recovery and prosecution demonstrate Nigeria’s growing resolve to uphold integrity in public administration.
He further assured that the government would continue to support anti-corruption institutions, improve the justice system, and ensure recovered funds are properly utilized for public development projects.
According to EFCC’s latest report, part of the ₦500bn recovered includes funds traced to cybercrime, contract fraud, and misappropriated public assets, while ongoing investigations target politically exposed persons and corporate offenders.
