Dangote Group Partners with Honeywell to Double Refinery Capacity to 1.4 Million BPD

The Dangote Group has announced a strategic partnership with Honeywell International Incorporated to support the next phase of expansion of its 650,000 barrels per day (BPD) petroleum refinery.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Dangote said the collaboration will leverage Honeywell’s advanced technology and services to increase the refinery’s processing capacity to 1.4 million BPD by 2028. The expansion is a key milestone in the company’s long-term vision to establish the world’s largest petroleum refining complex.

The partnership will see Honeywell supply specialised catalysts, equipment, and process technologies to allow the refinery to process a wider range of crude grades efficiently. The collaboration will also improve product quality and enhance operational reliability, according to the statement.

This development marks a significant step in Nigeria’s drive to strengthen local refining capacity, reduce fuel import dependency, and create additional economic opportunities in the energy sector.
