Tinubu Expands Nigeria for Women Programme to Reach 25 Million Beneficiaries
ABUJA â President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expanded the Nigeria for Women Programme (NFWP) to reach 25 million women across the country, reinforcing his administrationâs commitment to womenâs economic inclusion and national development.
The expansion follows the success of the programmeâs pilot phase in six states, which has already impacted over one million beneficiaries through support aimed at improving livelihoods, financial independence, and access to opportunities.
As part of the scale-up, the Federal Government introduced the âHappy Woman App Platform,â a secure digital interface designed to connect women to finance, skills acquisition, markets, essential social services, and government support programmes. The platform is expected to remove long-standing barriers limiting womenâs participation in the economy, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
Speaking on Thursday during the Presidential Launch of the Programme Scale-Up at the State House, Abuja, President Tinubu â represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima â stressed that Nigeria cannot achieve sustainable growth without placing women at the centre of national planning and development strategies.
He noted that empowering women economically would strengthen families, boost productivity, reduce poverty, and accelerate national progress. According to him, the programme aligns with the administrationâs broader agenda of inclusive governance and shared prosperity.
The Nigeria for Women Programme focuses on supporting women through access to funding, entrepreneurship development, digital inclusion, and capacity building, with the goal of improving their economic resilience and social wellbeing.
Government officials say the nationwide expansion marks one of the largest women-focused social and economic intervention programmes in Nigeriaâs history.
