Nigeria TV Info reports:
In a significant move aimed at boosting Nigeria’s global financial reputation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have joined forces to fast-track the country’s removal from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list. This was disclosed over the weekend following a joint inspection tour of the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, by FAAN Managing Director, Olubunmi Kuku, and the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi.
The FATF, a global watchdog established in 1995 to combat money laundering, terrorism financing, and the spread of weapons of mass destruction, placed Nigeria on its grey list on February 24, 2023, citing weaknesses in tackling illicit financial flows. Since then, relevant Nigerian agencies have been working tirelessly to address the listed deficiencies.
