The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has firmly dismissed any plans to sell the Port Harcourt Refining Company, ending widespread speculation about the fate of the critical national asset. The Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd, Bayo Ojulari, made this declaration during a company-wide town hall meeting held at the NNPC Towers in Abuja. He emphasized the company’s unwavering commitment to completing the ongoing high-level rehabilitation of the refinery and ensuring its long-term retention under national control.

Ojulari firmly stated that any suggestion to sell the Port Harcourt refinery was “ill-advised and sub-commercial,” reinforcing the NNPC’s strategic vision to revitalize and preserve the plant for national energy security. In a follow-up statement released by management on Wednesday, NNPC reiterated its position, stating that the company remains focused on delivering a fully rehabilitated and functional refinery, rather than disposing of it.
