WAHO steps up efforts against Lassa fever

Category: Health |

The West African Health Organisation (WAHO) organized a strategic communication workshop in preparation for the 2nd ECOWAS Lassa Fever International Conference scheduled to take place from September 22 to 26, 2025, in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. The aim of the workshop was to address persistent communication gaps among health stakeholders that have negatively impacted effective regional health advocacy and coordination efforts. This initiative comes at a time when the region continues to grapple with the growing burden of Lassa fever, a deadly viral hemorrhagic illness endemic to West Africa. WAHO emphasized that strengthening communication strategies is vital to improving response efforts and ensuring the success of the upcoming conference.
