Nigeria TV Info – UN Commission Concludes Israel Committed Genocide in Gaza

A United Nations commission of inquiry has concluded that Israel has committed genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, stating there are “reasonable grounds” to believe that four of the five genocidal acts defined under international law have been carried out since the outbreak of war with Hamas in 2023.

The Independent International Commission of Inquiry, chaired by former UN human rights chief Navi Pillay, said evidence gathered points to mass killings, serious bodily and mental harm, deliberate infliction of life-destroying conditions, and measures aimed at preventing births within the population.

According to the report, the actions of Israeli leaders and the conduct of their armed forces demonstrated genocidal intent. It specifically named President Isaac Herzog, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant as figures who “incited the commission of genocide.”

The findings outlined the widespread use of heavy munitions that led to mass civilian deaths, the systematic destruction of religious, cultural, and educational sites, and the enforcement of a blockade that deprived Gaza’s residents of food, water, electricity, fuel, and medical supplies.

The commission also referenced a December 2023 attack on Gaza’s largest fertility clinic, which destroyed thousands of embryos and sperm samples, describing the incident as a form of reproductive violence.

The report is expected to fuel further debate at the United Nations and intensify calls for accountability as the humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues.
