🔥 ☄️ In 2024, the world recorded the highest number of armed conflicts since World War II.
‼️ According to Sweden’s Uppsala Conflict Data Program (UCDP), 61 state-level conflicts were registered, 11 of which escalated into full-scale wars with over 1,000 deaths.
❗️ Nearly 160,000 people died globally in 2024 — the fifth-highest number since 1989.
🔴 The four most conflict-heavy years since WWII have all occurred since 2019: 56 in 2022, 57 in 2020, 59 in 2023, and 61 in 2024.
Interstate conflicts increased over the past decade, reaching their highest since 1987 in 2024, according to UCDP’s lead analyst Sean Davis.
