Benin Varsities, Nigerian Polytechnics Linked to NYSC Certificate Fraud Ring

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has uncovered a major certificate fraud syndicate involving some universities in the Republic of Benin and polytechnics in Nigeria. According to NYSC Director of Mobilization, the scheme enabled unqualified individuals to obtain fake call-up letters and discharge certificates without completing the mandatory one-year service. Investigations revealed that several graduates from unaccredited foreign universities were mobilized through forged credentials processed by corrupt officials and agents. Authorities have begun compiling a list of implicated institutions, with arrests already made in Lagos and Abuja. The NYSC has vowed to collaborate with security agencies and the Ministry of Education to dismantle the fraudulent network and ensure the integrity of the scheme is restored.
