Abure Taunts Otti-Led Labour Party Faction Over Internal Crisis.
The National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure, has mocked the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, and his faction within the party, accusing them of fueling unnecessary divisions that could weaken the LP ahead of future elections.
Speaking during a stakeholdersâ meeting in Abuja, Abure said the party under his leadership remains united and focused on strengthening its grassroots structures nationwide. He alleged that certain elements loyal to Governor Otti were attempting to hijack the partyâs leadership in Abia and at the national level, warning that such moves would only backfire.
Abure emphasized that the LPâs internal disputes were being exaggerated by political opponents who feared the partyâs growing popularity since the 2023 general elections. He called on all members to shun factionalism and support the ongoing reconciliation efforts by the national secretariat.
Meanwhile, loyalists of Governor Otti have dismissed Abureâs comments as baseless, insisting that their focus is on ensuring transparency, accountability, and genuine leadership reform within the party.
Political analysts warn that if not properly managed, the crisis could affect the Labour Partyâs chances in upcoming governorship and legislative elections.
