[ICYMI] 542 senior military officers retire

A total of 542 senior Non-Commissioned Officers officially retired from the Nigerian Armed Forces on Thursday after completing an impressive 35 years of dedicated service to the nation. The colourful retirement ceremony, which took place at the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre in Oshodi, Lagos, featured 362 personnel from the Nigerian Army, 134 from the Navy, and 46 from the Air Force. Speaking during the event, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, who was ably represented by Major General Aligbe Obhiozele of the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), commended the retirees for their unwavering commitment, bravery, and loyalty throughout their careers. He noted that their contributions had significantly strengthened the Armed Forces and safeguarded national stability. “Today we celebrate your courage, discipline, and selfless service to our great nation. Your 35-year journey embodies the finest military traditions of resilience and patriotism,” Obhiozele said. He further encouraged the retirees to remain positive contributors to society, urging them to avoid poor financial decisions and prioritize their health. He emphasized that even in retirement, they are still seen as ambassadors of discipline and must continue to uphold the values they embraced during active service.
