COAS Tasks Troops for Major Offensive Against Boko Haram, ISWAP

MAIDUGURI – The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has directed troops of the North-East Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), to prepare for a decisive offensive against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists.

Speaking at the Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Friday, General Shaibu emphasized that the upcoming operations represent a critical phase in Nigeria’s long-running counter-insurgency campaign. He stressed that the outcome of this mission would be pivotal in determining the nation’s success in ending terrorism in the North-East region.

“You have been training to defeat the terrorists disturbing the North-East. This time, you are going to do it differently. All combat enablers have been provided and new platforms introduced—all to ensure that you succeed,” he declared.

The Army Chief highlighted that this phase of the mission belongs to a new generation of troops, who are expected to build upon and surpass the achievements of soldiers who previously served in both national and international operations.

He reminded the troops that the responsibility of delivering a decisive blow to Boko Haram and ISWAP now rests squarely on their shoulders.

This announcement signals Nigeria’s renewed commitment to intensifying military operations in the North-East to restore peace and security to the region.
