How I Was Mocked, Betrayed Over 16 Years of Barrenness – Anambra Woman Shares Ordeal

An Anambra woman, Mrs. Chidinma Okeke, has narrated her painful 16-year journey through barrenness, revealing how she was mocked, betrayed, and abandoned by those she trusted, including close relatives and friends.

Speaking during a testimony session at a church event in Awka, Mrs. Okeke said her years of waiting for a child were marked by humiliation and emotional trauma, as people around her openly questioned her worth as a wife.

According to her, the pressure began barely two years into her marriage, when neighbors and even members of her husband’s extended family accused her of being the reason for the delay in conception. She noted that despite medical tests confirming that both she and her husband were healthy, societal judgment never ceased.

“I faced insults every day” — Chidinma

She recounted how some friends distanced themselves from her, while others openly mocked her during gatherings. The situation worsened when she discovered that a close friend she trusted had secretly advised her husband to take a second wife.

“People mocked me. Some said I didn’t deserve to be called a wife. My friend betrayed me by suggesting to my husband that he should leave me. I cried every night,” she said.

Breakthrough after 16 years

Mrs. Okeke revealed that after several failed medical attempts, she conceived naturally earlier this year and delivered a set of twins last month. She thanked her husband for standing by her despite the pressure, adding that her story should inspire other women going through similar challenges.

Her husband, Mr. Chukwudi Okeke, also shared that although he faced pressure from family and friends to remarry, he remained committed because he believed “God’s time is the best.”

The testimony has since gone viral on social media, drawing sympathy and admiration from Nigerians who praised the couple’s resilience and faith.
