Nigeria TV Info News report
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a July 2025 flood alert, warning that Sokoto, Lagos, Edo, Benue, and 16 other states face a high risk of flash flooding due to heavy rainfall.
Despite receiving over ₦620 billion in ecological funds, many states remain unprepared, prompting strong criticism from the Africa Environmental Health Organisation, climate experts, and the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners. They called for urgent scrutiny of how the funds are managed amid widespread environmental vulnerability.
NiMet advised at-risk residents to relocate if needed, clear drainage systems, prepare emergency kits, and increase community awareness to reduce flood impacts.
Meanwhile, flood victims in Ondo State have appealed for government support after suffering property damage from last week’s floods.
