Be Careful with Appointments — VDM Advises IGP Tunji Disu

Popular Nigerian social commentator, Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has advised the newly appointed Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, to exercise caution in making key appointments within the Nigeria Police Force.

In a video shared on his social media platforms, VDM congratulated the police chief on his new role but stressed the importance of choosing trustworthy and competent individuals to occupy strategic positions in the force. According to him, the success of the new leadership will largely depend on the integrity and professionalism of those selected to work closely with the IGP.

VDM warned that wrong appointments could undermine efforts to reform the police and rebuild public confidence in law enforcement across the country. He noted that many Nigerians have lost trust in the system due to corruption, abuse of power, and lack of accountability within the force.

The activist urged the police boss to prioritize merit, transparency, and discipline when assigning responsibilities, adding that the public is watching closely and hoping for real change in policing.

He further encouraged the IGP to focus on strengthening internal discipline, addressing cases of misconduct among officers, and ensuring that justice is served without bias. VDM said these steps would help improve the image of the police and foster better relationships between officers and the communities they serve.

The message has since sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians supporting the call for careful and responsible appointments within the police hierarchy.
