I’m Still Awaiting FG’s Approval to Flush Out Criminals from South-West Forests — Igboho

Yoruba nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo has said he is still waiting for approval from the Federal Government before launching fresh operations against criminals hiding in forests across the South-West region.

Igboho stated that insecurity, including kidnappings and attacks on farmers, remains a major concern in parts of the South-West. According to him, local communities continue to complain about the activities of armed gangs occupying forest areas and threatening residents.

Speaking during a recent public engagement, the activist maintained that he and his supporters are ready to assist security agencies in restoring peace, but insisted that any action must receive official backing from the Federal Government to avoid conflict with law enforcement authorities.

He recalled previous operations carried out in some South-West states, where suspected criminal hideouts were reportedly dismantled. Igboho argued that community-based security efforts are necessary to complement the work of conventional security agencies battling rising insecurity nationwide.

The activist also called on governors in the South-West to strengthen collaboration with local vigilante groups and security outfits to improve intelligence gathering and protect rural communities from attacks.

His comments have continued to generate mixed reactions among Nigerians, with some supporting stronger grassroots security measures while others insist that only constitutionally recognised security agencies should handle armed operations.

Security challenges, including kidnapping, banditry and attacks on farmers, have remained pressing concerns in several parts of Nigeria, prompting repeated calls for stronger regional and community policing initiatives.
