Aftermath of Primaries: Peter Obi Rallies NDC Aspirants for Unity, Calls for Party Cohesion Ahead of Future Elections

Abuja, Nigeria — Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, His Excellency Peter Obi, has urged all party aspirants to embrace unity and reconciliation following the conclusion of the party’s recent primary elections.

Speaking during a post-primary stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, Obi appealed to aggrieved aspirants to accept the outcomes of the primaries in good faith and work collectively to strengthen the party’s structure ahead of future general elections. He emphasized that internal competition is a normal part of democracy, but unity after contests is critical for political success.

Obi warned that unresolved grievances and internal divisions could weaken the party’s ability to serve as a credible opposition platform, stressing that “no political movement can succeed without sacrifice, discipline, and collective focus.”

He further called on party leaders and members to prioritize national interest over personal ambition, noting that the NDC must remain focused on building trust among Nigerians through issue-based politics, especially on insecurity, unemployment, and economic recovery.

The meeting reportedly ended with renewed commitments from several aspirants to support the party leadership and work toward reconciliation efforts across state structures.
