What once existed only in sci-fi films may soon become part of daily life in Europe: flying taxis! Several European countries – including France, Germany, and the United Kingdom – are actively working to introduce the first flying cars into congested city traffic between 2027 and 2030.

The goal is to make air travel faster, more environmentally friendly, and safer, especially in large cities where ground traffic is becoming less efficient. These electric-powered flying vehicles (eVTOLs) will be able to fly from one part of a city to another in just a few minutes.

This new technology won’t only transform transportation in Europe – analysts say Africa, including Nigeria, could also benefit in the long term, especially in solving future transport challenges in megacities like Lagos.
