Tragedy struck Plateau State on Thursday as no fewer than 14 villagers and a mobile police officer lost their lives in two brutal attacks by unknown gunmen in Bokkos Local Government Area.

According to Nigeria TV Info sources, one of the deadly ambushes occurred at about 4:00 pm when victims, mostly residents of Chirang community, were on their way back to Mangor village after attending the Bokkos market. The assailants reportedly laid in wait and opened fire on the unsuspecting villagers, resulting in multiple fatalities.

Confirming the incident, Chairman of the Community Peace Observers in Bokkos, Kefas Mallai, told The Nigeria TV Info in Jos that the killings did happen, describing the situation as disturbing. "Yes, it is true. There was an attack on our people around 4:00 pm this evening," he said.
