Ghana Reaffirms ECOWAS Commitment, Assures Nigeria of Safety
President John Mahama of Ghana has reaffirmed his country's firm commitment to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) protocols, particularly the provisions on the free movement of persons and goods across member states.
In a clear message to Nigeria, President Mahama assured that Ghana will not succumb to xenophobic tendencies, emphasizing that the safety and rights of all West Africans, including Nigerians, remain protected.
The assurance came during a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s special envoy, led by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, at the Presidential Palace in Accra. This was disclosed in a statement by the media aide to the minister, Magnus Eze.
Mahama stressed that Ghana remains a peaceful and hospitable nation that values its long-standing relationship with Nigeria.
