NCAA Intensifies Probe Into Ibom Air Incident Involving Comfort Emmanson

ABUJA — The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has continued its formal investigation into the altercation between passenger Comfort Emmanson and members of the Ibom Air crew, following a viral video of the incident at Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.

NCAA spokesperson, Michael Achimugu, disclosed via X that several key directorates—including Aviation Security, Operations, Licensing and Training Standards, Legal, and Consumer Protection—are working jointly to ensure a transparent and impartial inquiry.

“Yesterday in Abuja, the NCAA team met with Julie Edwards and other members of the Ibom Air crew involved in the incident. Later today, Comfort Emmanson, the passenger, will be meeting with the Authority, accompanied by her lawyer,” Achimugu stated.

The viral confrontation, which sparked public debate, initially led the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) to impose a lifetime no-fly ban on Emmanson. However, the decision was later rescinded, and the case against her was formally withdrawn.

The NCAA said its investigation aims to establish the facts surrounding the altercation and ensure fairness for both the passenger and the airline crew.
