Wanted Kidnap Kingpin, Yusuf Muhamed, Arrested in Benue

The Benue State Police Command has arrested a notorious kidnap kingpin, Yusuf Muhamed, popularly known as “OC Torture”, at Orokam in Ogbadibo Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect, who is physically challenged, was apprehended during a special operation after being trailed by operatives for several days. According to police sources, some of his victims helped in identifying him, which made his capture possible.

The arrest follows weeks of heightened insecurity in the area, with kidnappers terrorizing residents. The gang's activities escalated recently, culminating in the killing of a mother and her visiting son during a botched abduction attempt.

In response, the Chairman of Ogbadibo LGA, Hon. Sunday Ajunwa, had imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Orokam about two weeks ago after angry residents staged protests over the growing attacks.

Speaking on the development, Hon. Ajunwa confirmed the arrest, praising the synergy between security agencies and local residents.

> "The Commissioner of Police deployed a Tactical Team, the Mobile Police Squad, alongside personnel of Civil Protection Guards who went into combat in Orokam and its environs. Their operation yielded the positive result we are celebrating today. It goes to show that with the cooperation of locals, the police and other security agencies can achieve set targets which would help check incidents of crime in the society," he said.

The arrest of Yusuf Muhamed is seen as a major breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping in Benue State, especially in Ogbadibo and surrounding communities.
