FG Declares Friday Public Holiday for Eid-ul-Mawlid

The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, a public holiday to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid, commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on behalf of the government in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo congratulated the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion, urging them to reflect on the virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion as exemplified by the Holy Prophet.

He further encouraged Nigerians to use the celebration to pray for the unity, progress, and stability of the country.
