Troops Foil N545.8m Oil Theft, Sustain Onslaught Against Terrorists — DHQ
ABUJA — The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced that Nigerian troops foiled oil theft valued at N545.8 million in August while vowing to sustain military operations against terrorists and bandits throughout the farming season and beyond.
The Director of Operations, Maj.-Gen. Markus Kangye, disclosed this on Thursday during a press briefing at the DHQ in Abuja.
According to him, the military high command is committed to ensuring that farmers within conflict zones can carry out agricultural activities without hindrance.
“Troops will sustain the onslaught against terrorists and bandits to allow farmers operate freely. We remain resolute in creating a safe environment for citizens,” Kangye said.
He added that troops have continued to respond swiftly to distress calls across operational theatres, neutralizing and arresting several terrorists while also dismantling their hideouts.
The DHQ reassured Nigerians that the armed forces will not relent in their efforts to secure the nation, safeguard critical assets, and protect livelihoods.
