Jonathan’s Camp Hints at 2027 Presidential Bid Amid PDP Consultations

ABUJA — Indications emerging from the political camp of former President Goodluck Jonathan suggest that he may be preparing to join the 2027 presidential race, contrary to earlier denials.

Supporters of the ex-president within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are said to be working tirelessly behind the scenes to market his candidature to key stakeholders.

Sources at Wadata Plaza, the PDP’s national secretariat, confirmed that high-level consultations are ongoing to persuade Jonathan to return to active partisan politics.

Political observers note that some northern power brokers are backing Jonathan, believing he would serve as a consensus leader capable of building compromises. They also see his possible return as a pathway to facilitating the emergence of a northern presidential candidate in 2031.

Further fueling speculations, recent remarks by Jonathan himself, his cousin Robert Azibaola, and his special adviser Ikechukwu Eze, are being interpreted by analysts as strong signals of the former president’s renewed political ambitions.
