Tinubu Orders Review of Military Operations After Borno Terrorist Attack

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered an immediate review of ongoing military operations in the North-East following a deadly terrorist attack in Borno State. The directive comes after insurgents launched a surprise assault on a rural community, leaving several people dead and many others displaced.

In a statement released on Monday by the Presidency, Tinubu condemned the attack, describing it as a cowardly act against innocent citizens. He expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ending terrorism and restoring peace to the region.

The President instructed the Chief of Defence Staff and service chiefs to intensify intelligence gathering, strengthen counter-insurgency measures, and adopt new strategies that would ensure the safety of residents in affected communities. He also urged security agencies to work more closely with local vigilante groups and community leaders to forestall future attacks.

Government sources revealed that a special security meeting will be convened later this week to assess the effectiveness of current operations against insurgent groups such as Boko Haram and ISWAP.

The Borno State Government has pledged to support the victims of the attack with relief materials, while security forces have already launched a manhunt for the perpetrators.

The recent attack underscores the persistent security challenges in the North-East, despite ongoing efforts by the military to reclaim territories and stabilize the region.
