Osun 2026: Omisore Declares Intention to Run for Governor

Former Deputy Governor of Osun State and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2026 governorship election in the state.

Omisore, who made the declaration at a gathering of political associates and supporters in Ile-Ife on Friday, said his decision was borne out of his desire to reposition Osun and build on the legacies of development.

He promised to focus on economic revitalization, job creation, and youth empowerment, while also pledging to improve education and healthcare systems across the state.

“My mission is to unite Osun people under one vision of progress and to deliver a government that is responsive, transparent, and people-centered. Osun deserves better, and I am committed to providing that leadership,” Omisore said.

The declaration has already sparked mixed reactions across political circles in the state, with analysts predicting a fierce battle for the APC ticket ahead of the election.

If successful, Omisore will be making another attempt at the governorship seat, having previously contested under different political platforms.
