Robbery: Four UK-Based Nigerians, Others Bag 55-Year Jail Term Over Violent Attack
A UK court has sentenced four Nigerians and two other accomplices to a combined 55 years in prison for a violent robbery carried out in East London. The gang reportedly targeted a luxury goods store, brandishing weapons and inflicting injuries on two employees during the heist.
According to Metropolitan Police, the robbers made away with expensive watches and jewelry worth over ÂŁ400,000 before they were apprehended through CCTV tracking and forensic evidence. The court heard that the suspects, all UK residents of Nigerian descent, had planned the operation for weeks, using stolen vehicles and disguises to evade detection.
Detectives praised the swift investigation that led to their arrest, describing the sentencing as a âstrong messageâ against organized crime. Authorities added that some of the stolen items have been recovered, while efforts continue to trace others.
The convicts will serve varying jail terms ranging from eight to fifteen years each, depending on their roles in the crime.
