Kwankwaso Warns NNPP Members Against Defection, Says Political Betrayal Never Ends Well
The national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has cautioned party members considering defection to other political platforms, warning that political betrayal has never yielded lasting success.
Kwankwaso issued the warning while addressing supporters at his residence in Kano, reacting to reports that some NNPP members, including Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, were contemplating leaving the party.
In a video from the gathering that has since gone viral on social media, the former Kano State governor said the reports did not come as a surprise to him. He stressed that political history is replete with examples showing that those who abandon the platforms that brought them to power often end up losing relevance.
According to Kwankwaso, loyalty, consistency, and patience remain critical values in politics, adding that personal ambition should not override collective ideals and long-term party vision. He urged party faithful to remain steadfast and focused on building the NNPP rather than seeking short-term political gains elsewhere.
The NNPP leader maintained that the party remains strong despite internal challenges, expressing confidence that committed members would continue to work toward its growth and electoral success.
Kwankwaso’s remarks come amid rising speculation about possible realignments within the NNPP in Kano State, a development that could reshape the political landscape ahead of future elections.
