The Nigeria Police Force has successfully rescued the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, along with her 12-year-old twin sons, following a fierce gun battle with suspected kidnappers in Oyo State.

The victims, identified as Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her twin sons, Peter and Paul, were abducted on June 3, 2026, while reportedly on their way to school in Ibadan. Their kidnapping sparked widespread concern and prompted an intensive rescue operation by security agencies.

According to security sources, police operatives tracked the kidnappers to their hideout after days of intelligence gathering and surveillance. The operation led to a violent exchange of gunfire during which two suspected kidnappers were neutralized and firearms were recovered. The victims were rescued unharmed.

Authorities disclosed that sustained pressure from security forces forced the kidnappers into confrontation, creating an opportunity for the successful rescue mission. Investigations are ongoing, while security personnel continue to search for other members of the criminal gang who reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds.

The rescue has been welcomed by many Nigerians, who commended the efforts of the police and called for similar urgency in addressing other kidnapping cases across the country.

Security experts have reiterated the need for enhanced intelligence-driven operations, improved surveillance systems, and stronger community cooperation to tackle the growing threat of kidnapping and violent crimes.
