Gas Explosion Razes LPG Outlet In Jigawa, Destroys Property Worth Millions | Nigeria TV Info
A massive gas explosion has destroyed a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) retail outlet in Hadejia Local Government Area of Jigawa State, leaving property worth millions of naira in ruins.
The incident reportedly occurred when a gas delivery truck arrived at the outlet to offload fresh supplies. Preliminary reports indicate that an open flame from nearby food preparation ignited leaking gas, triggering a powerful explosion and a fast-spreading fire.
Eyewitnesses said multiple gas cylinders exploded during the inferno, forcing residents and business owners to flee the area. Thick smoke covered the neighborhood as emergency responders worked to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.
Officials of the Fire Service and security agencies responded promptly, successfully bringing the blaze under control. Although the LPG outlet and several gas cylinders were completely destroyed, no lives were lost in the incident.
The explosion has renewed concerns over safety practices at gas retail outlets, with residents calling for stricter enforcement of safety regulations and the prohibition of open flames near LPG facilities to prevent similar incidents in the future.
