Tinubu To Attend Ladoja’s Coronation As 44th Olubadan, Committee Unveils Weeklong Plan
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to grace the coronation ceremony of High Chief Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland. The event, described as historic, is expected to draw eminent Nigerians, traditional rulers, captains of industry, and political leaders from across the country.
The Olubadan Coronation Committee on Saturday unveiled a detailed weeklong programme of activities that will precede the installation, aimed at celebrating Ibadan’s rich cultural heritage. The itinerary includes a cultural day, lectures on Ibadan history and unity, health outreach, Jumat service, church thanksgiving, and a grand civic reception.
According to the committee, security arrangements have been put in place to ensure a smooth and colorful ceremony. The state government is also collaborating with relevant agencies to accommodate dignitaries and ensure seamless traffic flow during the festivities.
Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State and the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, is ascending the throne following the passage of Oba Lekan Balogun, the 43rd Olubadan. His coronation is seen as a unifying event for the ancient city, expected to further solidify its traditions and promote its cultural pride.
The climax of the activities will be the formal installation and presentation of the staff of office, where President Tinubu is billed to deliver a goodwill message and reaffirm the federal government’s support for traditional institutions in fostering unity and peace across Nigeria.
