Matawalle to Wed Nine Children in Grand Joint Ceremony in Abuja

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence and former Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, is preparing an extraordinary multiple‑wedding ceremony for nine of his children on the same day in Abuja.

According to invitation cards circulating widely on social media, the mass wedding is scheduled to take place at the Central Mosque, Abuja, on February 6, 2026, with solemnisation set to begin by 1:30 pm.

The children listed on the invitations include Ibrahim, Suraj, Safiya, Maryam, Aisha, Fahad, Muh’d, Nana Firdausi and Farida — a mix of five sons and four daughters who will enter into matrimony in a single event.

A spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State, Yusuf Idris, confirmed that arrangements were at an advanced stage, with preparations underway to ensure a smooth ceremony for families, dignitaries and well‑wishers expected from across Nigeria.

In addition to the general details, separate invitation cards seen by journalists reveal some of the couples’ identities:

  • Hon. Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, former Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, is set to wed Nana Bello Matawalle.
  • Ibrahim Sahabi Liman will marry Farida Bello Matawalle.
  • Yazid Shehu Dan Fulani is named as the groom of Safiya Bello Matawalle, while Umar Ibrahim Danmaliki will wed Aisha Bello Matawalle.

The event has drawn significant attention due to its scale and the high profile of the families involved, with expectations that the ceremony will be attended by political figures, community leaders and family friends.
