Ondo: Man Confesses to Killing Younger Brother Over ₦20,000 Dispute
AKURE — The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a man, identified as Eze Elechi Amadi, for allegedly killing his 18-year-old younger brother, Otu Ifeanyi, in Kajola, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect was paraded alongside 99 other alleged criminals in Akure, the state capital, over the weekend. According to the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, Amadi was apprehended while attempting to dispose of his brother’s body, concealed inside a blue plastic drum.
Lawal explained that the incident came to light on August 26, 2025, when one Oluwafemi Oladipupo, a resident of Paragon Street, Kajola, reported to the police after noticing the suspicious drum tied with a black rope. On inspection, the corpse of Ifeanyi was discovered inside.
Investigations revealed that Amadi was transporting the drum on a motorcycle to an undisclosed location when it fell off, drawing the attention of bystanders and leading to his arrest.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to killing his younger brother over a financial dispute. He alleged that the deceased unlawfully transferred ₦20,000 from his Ecobank account,” the commissioner said.
The police confirmed that the body has been deposited at the morgue, while further investigations continue. Amadi will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the inquiry.
Meanwhile, Lawal disclosed that the command also apprehended other suspects across the 18 local government areas of the state for crimes including murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, unlawful possession of hard drugs, and theft. He commended residents for providing useful information that aided the arrests.
