Super Eagles Confident Ahead of South Africa Clash in Bloemfontein

BLOEMFONTEIN — As the Super Eagles gear up to face South Africa in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Free State Stadium today, confidence is running high within the Nigerian camp following their 1-0 triumph over Rwanda on Saturday.

Samuel Chukwueze, who recently completed a move from AC Milan to Fulham, said the Super Eagles are fully prepared to withstand the pressure from Bafana Bafana.

“South Africa is a strong team, but we are Nigerians, and we have a good team also, so we can compete with them,” Chukwueze told NFFTv.

He stressed the importance of securing a positive outcome in Bloemfontein, adding: “I think by the grace of God, we want good results here. The most important thing for us is to come here and win.”

Echoing Chukwueze’s optimism, South Africa-based goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali said the squad is united and strong enough to face any opposition.

With spirits high, the Super Eagles will be looking to build on their winning momentum and boost their chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
