Nigeria TV Info – Ezekiel Nathaniel Breaks National Record, Finishes Fourth in 400m Hurdles at World Athletics Championships

Nigeria’s Ezekiel Nathaniel delivered a record-breaking performance in the men’s 400m hurdles final at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo on Friday but narrowly missed out on a podium finish after placing fourth.

The 22-year-old clocked 47.11 seconds at the Tokyo National Stadium, smashing his own national record of 47.31 seconds, which he had set on August 16 in Poland. Despite the remarkable feat, Nathaniel finished behind USA’s Rai Benjamin, who clinched gold in 46.52 seconds, Brazil’s Allison dos Santos with silver in 46.84 seconds, and Qatar’s Ismail Doudai Abakar, who secured bronze in 47.00 seconds.

Running from lane six, Nathaniel had a slow start but produced a strong late surge in the final stretch to secure fourth place. The race ended in drama after Benjamin was accused of interference for knocking a hurdle into a rival’s path. Nathaniel was briefly promoted to third place, but a successful appeal by the American camp overturned the decision, reinstating the original results and leaving Nathaniel in fourth.
