Chelsea have made a significant statement in the transfer market by signing Brazilian striker Joao Pedro from Brighton in a deal reportedly worth £60 million. The 23-year-old, who scored 30 goals in 70 appearances for Brighton and has been capped three times by Brazil, agreed to an eight-year contract and has already joined Chelsea’s squad in the United States for the Club World Cup. With FIFA allowing squad changes until July 3, Pedro is eligible to play in their quarter-final clash against Palmeiras. His arrival marks Chelsea’s fourth signing from Brighton in recent years, following Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella, and Robert Sanchez, and adds to their aggressive summer rebuild that has already seen the acquisitions of Liam Delap, Dario Essugo, and Mamadou Sarr.
