U.S. President Donald Trump has officially confirmed his attendance at the FIFA Club World Cup final taking place this Sunday at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The announcement comes just after FIFA revealed its decision to open a new office in New York’s Trump Tower—a symbolic gesture reflecting its intent to solidify a stronger presence in the United States ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which the U.S. will co-host alongside Canada and Mexico.

This final match of the newly expanded tournament will see Chelsea face off against either Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid, at the same stadium set to host the final of the 2026 World Cup. Trump, who was also present at this year’s Super Bowl, is currently heading a White House taskforce responsible for overseeing preparations for both the Club World Cup and the upcoming global tournament.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino commended the level of cooperation and support from the U.S. government, stating, “We have received tremendous backing from the administration and President Trump through the White House taskforce.” He emphasized FIFA’s global mission, adding, “To be global, you must also be local. That’s why we’re expanding our presence in New York.”

While FIFA already has an office in Miami, the new Trump Tower location is seen as a strategic expansion. Infantino also addressed concerns surrounding U.S. immigration policy, asserting that international fans would be welcomed to the U.S. despite existing controversies.
