NLC Urges Tinubu’s Intervention in Dangote–NUPENG Dispute

ABUJA — The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently intervene in the ongoing face-off between the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and the Dangote Group.

The NLC, in a statement signed by its President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, urged the President to prevail on the Dangote Group to respect labour laws and international conventions guiding industrial relations.

According to the labour body, compliance with these laws remains critical to ensuring industrial harmony, protecting workers’ rights, and sustaining economic stability.

“The Nigeria Labour Congress calls on President Tinubu to intervene and ensure that the Dangote Group complies with existing labour laws as well as international conventions ratified by Nigeria,” the statement read in part.

The call comes amid rising tensions between the oil and gas workers’ union and the industrial conglomerate, a situation that stakeholders fear could escalate if not swiftly addressed.
