President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to participate in the 17th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the BRICS nations, which focuses on development in the Global South and emerging economies. His flight landed at the Galeao Air Force Base at 8:45 p.m. local time on Friday, where he was given a special reception by the military. Brazilian Ministers Carlos Duarte and his counterpart in charge of Trade, Science & Innovation received him. Tinubu is attending the summit as a guest of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who extended the invitation. The two leaders are expected to hold a bilateral meeting on Saturday, July 5, ahead of the main summit scheduled to run from July 6 to 13.
