Nigeria TV Info – Super Eagles Drop To 45th In Latest FIFA Rankings, Fall Out Of Africa’s Top Five

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have slipped to 45th place in the latest FIFA men’s world rankings released on Thursday, dropping one spot from their previous position. The decline also pushed them out of Africa’s top five ranked teams.

The slide follows a string of disappointing results in recent outings. At the African Nations Championship (CHAN), the home-based Eagles endured a disastrous campaign, while the main squad struggled in World Cup qualifiers — narrowly defeating Rwanda in Uyo before being held to a draw by South Africa.

These poor results translated into a negative points tally in the review period, with Ivory Coast overtaking Nigeria in the continental standings.

AFCON 2024 silver medallists, the Super Eagles, now sit behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Ivory Coast in Africa’s rankings. Morocco remain the continent’s highest-ranked side, holding 11th place globally after their historic 2022 World Cup semi-final run.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe suffered the steepest fall worldwide, dropping nine places to 125th. On the global stage, Spain climbed to number one, replacing Argentina, who slipped to third, while France moved up to second place.
